My name is Miguel Zapata, although many know me simply as Zapa. I’m an artist and musician originally from A Coruña, Galicia, and based in London since 2009.
My music is deeply influenced by the psychedelic folk sounds and aesthetics of the late 60s and early 70s. Netlabel Vulpiano Records has been releasing my recordings since 2009, including my LPs The Long Trick (2016) and Triangle (2018). Over the years I have collaborated with other bands and singer-songwriters in Spain and the UK as a lyricist, harmonica player and producer.
As an illustrator I have designed album covers and posters for films and music events. My other creative outlets are analogue photography and writing. In 2025 I self-published my first book, The Bedsit People, an illustrated short novel.
I have a keen interest in acting too. I played the lead character role in three shorts films, Log Out (2013) directed by Andrea Ratto, and The Path (2020) and Pictures of You (2021) by Stephen Burke.
